Cascina Scanna

In the 1990s, the Chiara DuFour farm was established in the pre-existing facilities of Cascina Scanna; a few kilometers west of Milan, the farm is located inside the city’s Parco Agricolo Sud and bordering on the Parco del Ticino to the West.

The main purpose of the Agriturismo has always been respecting the environment while cultivating the typical local products, in order to produce high quality food. For this reason the practice of one-crop farming has yielded ground to crop rotation; summer crops (rice, corn and soy) and winter crops (wheat, barley) alternate creating a new rural landscape; hedges, plant rows, tree crops and irrigation ditches frame the fields, offering a beautiful glimpse of the Po valley stretching to the Alps up to the Monte Rosa Massif.

Cascina Scanna dates back to Roman times: the original settlement developed into its present setting during the Italian Renaissance, in the 15th century. Since 2007, the farm has welcomed its guests in its wide rooms, with their original wood beam ceilings and furniture conveying the typical rural setting of the Milan countryside. The location is also near some important historic cities such as Milan, Pavia and Vigevano, and near FieraMilano in Rho and Malpensa airport.

As of today, Cascina Scanna stretches over fifty hectares of cultivated land - fed by the sustainable energy of its photovoltaic solar panels - and it sells its locally produced rice and corn mush. Moreover, it welcomes its guests in a location provided with five rooms, two apartments and a porch featuring an outdoor fireplace, the staff being at hand to let the guests spend some quality time in our wonderful countryside.
